Three U.S. Senate Democrats sent an accusatory letter to the Big Four wireless carriers. The letter suggests the carriers are throttling customers’ video streams without disclosing, which is an FCC violation. The data the senators based their accusations on has yet to be independently verified. If you’ve had the feeling your mobile streaming is slower than it should be, you might not just be imagining things. According to research collected by a testing platform called Wehe, each of the Big Four carriers is throttling video streams from major media apps. In the case of Sprint, it is additionally accused of throttling Skype calls. In response to this, three U.S. Senate Democrats sent a letter to the Big Four carriers (the aforementioned Sprint, as well as T-Mobile, AT&T, and Verizon) inquiring as to what is going on — and demanding answers to some tough questions (via ArsTechnica). Although mobile throttling didn’t explicitly violate Net Neutrality laws when they were in action (and obviously doesn’t now that they are gone), the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) does explicitly require mobile carriers to disclose any mobile throttling to its customers. The data collected from the Wehe platform suggests there is hidden throttling occurring of which customers are likely unaware, which would give the FCC the ability to take action. Sprint denies throttling Skype calls and confirmed it received the letter from the senators and will respond directly. AT&T questioned the validity of the Wehe results. FCC chairman Ajit Pai is aware of the letter sent by the senators but also is not certain the Wehe data is ironclad. “My understanding is that the data and analysis that went into those conclusions have not been made available to the extent that others independently can verify those results,” Pai said. According to the letter, the Big Four carriers have until December 6, 2018, to respond. NEXT: California will not enforce net neutrality law it passed (for now)

Best of Android 2018: best performing phones

November 2018 - Bertemu lagi dengan saya Admin Droid Shot, Kali ini saya menulis artikel dengan judul November 2018, semoga saja isi postingan mengenai bermanfaat buat sahabat Droid Shot.

Judul : Best of Android 2018: best performing phones
link : Best of Android 2018: best performing phones

We’ve yelled ourselves hoarse cautioning people to not look too deeply at benchmark performance, but for Best of Android 2018, we’re ignoring our own advice a little bit. The problem with benchmarks is many people don’t have a good idea what all of those numbers mean — sometimes they don’t actually mean anything at all. In addition to all that, manufacturers cheating benchmarks this year means confidence in these metrics is at an all-time low. Beyond that, picking the “best” performance is a little sticky, given folks use their smartphones for drastically different things. We’ll post our test results below with a little bit of context, and mark them against the 2018 average so you can see what’s the cream of the crop. A lot of phones do exceptionally well, and some even beat our pick in certain metrics. The Huawei Mate 20 Pro’s Kirin 980 has the best performance, with caveats When it comes to silicon, for the moment you want Huawei’s Kirin 980 powering your smartphone. While there’s been a lot of hay made by tech bloggers about concerns shown with benchmarks, even Qualcomm is taking notes on this chip. Until Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 hits shelves, we won’t have another credible 7nm chip to compare the Kirin with. That might not be enough to satisfy you, so let me go a little more in-depth on how we determined our leaders in this competition. The Huawei Mate 20 Pro is not the best phone in every benchmark we ran, it’s simply the best overall results. We chose benchmarks for a decent cross-section of performance results… and to sidestep cheating In all of our benchmarking, we unintentionally limited what kinds of performances we’d find by using almost only flagship phones. In truth, most results from device to device are much smaller than the numbers would have you believe, so it was tough to get a good cross-section of performances. If you were to add more phones like the Motorola Moto G6 or any bargain model outside of the Xiaomi Pocophone F1, you’d find a lot more separation between devices. Our battery of tests consisted of: AnTuTu GFXBench (T-Rex) GFXBench (Manhattan) Basemark OS Jetstream Geekbench (single core) Geekbench (multi core) Geekbench (single core stealth) Geekbench (multi core stealth) 3DMark (Slingshot Extreme) If you’re wondering what that “stealth” version of Geekbench is, it’s a build of Geekbench that defeats benchmark detection on today’s crop of phones. We didn’t want to have to do that, but to find results more indicative of your actual use we have to keep manufacturers honest. We won’t shame companies outright with this, but we’ll only be listing results from the stealth app. We have the “regular” results too, but we’re more interested in what the phone actually gives its users. ...of the 30 phones that we tested, seven phones cheated so badly that the average inflation in Geekbench score was just under 3 percent. The Huawei Mate 20 Pro sits at a rather advantageous position, as its processor is an early entrant into next year’s generation of chips. Consequently, it boasts a number of advantages that will likely be eclipsed in the near future. Its GPU is limited by its display, which caps its video benchmarks at 60fps. Razer and Asus eclipsed the Mate 20 Pro here, as that benchmark isn’t limited by the displays, for example. Performances were incredibly similar After normalizing the scores in each category, we found much like the competition in displays: the differences between units were really nothing to write home about. Here are our rankings for the best-performing smartphones, all hitting marks within 2 points out of 100 of each other in our scoring. All of these phones will perform brilliantly, and you won’t likely notice anything different — outside of the Razer Phone 2’s higher frame rate, at least. Huawei Mate 20 Pro Asus ROG Phone OnePlus 6T Huawei Mate 20 Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Samsung Galaxy S9+ Samsung Galaxy S9 LG V40 Razer 2 All of these models lag severely behind the iPhone, but I’ll let Gary explain that one. In truth, smartphone processing power has never been more astounding than it is now. It’s one of the last things you should be concerned about. The Mate 20 Pro holds its own in graphics processing Most phones hit the 60fps limit in the first GFXBench test, so let’s also look at GFXBench Manhattan, where there was a lot more separation. This high-level test is brutal for GPUs, and relies on lots of difficult-to-handle tasks. GFXBench T-RexHigher is Better GFXBench ManhattanHigher is Better However, that’s a fairly limited test, and throwing everything but the kitchen sink into the mix yields slightly different results: 3DMark overall scoreHigher is Better The Huawei Mate 20 Pro is still among the leaders in the pack, but not the best for graphics. The chip’s “weakness” in graphics is intense 3D rendering, but it still hangs tough with the top gaming phones. That’s not bad! The Mate 20 Pro excels in OS-level benchmarking Testing processors is a marathon, not a sprint, and how the OS does things is what most users will notice. The Mate 20 Pro wasn’t the best in Basemark, but it more than made up for it in the Geekbench and Jetstream tests. Basemark OSHigher is Better JetstreamHigher is Better The stealth Geekbench results were far and away the best we tested this year, which makes sense, given the differences in chip architecture between the latest Kirin chipset and the Snapdragon 845. Those advantages look pretty small when that chart uses a 0-scale, eh? Like I said, processors are so good and so similar now it’s really tough to tell the difference half the time. The only time you’d really notice any small change in performance is if you somehow find a magic outlier weakness of a chip, memory, or its task-scheduling. Still, the Huawei Mate 20 Pro posted a respectable advantage over its competitors, giving us a taste of what’s to come with more 7nm chips coming in 2019. Stealth Geekbench, (Green - Single, Purple - Multi)Higher is Better These are the stealth, anti-benchmark cheating results. Because we can’t install the unlisted app on an iPhone, we can’t compare results here. If you were to run benchmarks on your own phones, you’ll almost certainly get different results than we did. In fact, of the 30 phones we tested, seven phones cheated so badly the average inflation in Geekbench score was just under 3 percent. Considering we want every phone on equal footing, I’d say it was very fortunate the folks at Primate Labs are so helpful and kind. Final thoughts If running through all these tests has taught us anything, it’s that the processors of tomorrow will probably focus more on battery performance improvements and other structural changes to achieve a more palatable smartphone experience. Many chips already do extraordinarily well compared to last year. In that light, Huawei’s Kirin 980 seems to be indicative of future trends in processing. If we’re going to be seeing processors with changing philosophies in the future, it makes sense that we’d see chips move away from focusing solely on raw performance.

Welcome to Best of Android 2018

November 2018 - Bertemu lagi dengan saya Admin Droid Shot, Kali ini saya menulis artikel dengan judul November 2018, semoga saja isi postingan mengenai bermanfaat buat sahabat Droid Shot.

Judul : Welcome to Best of Android 2018
link : Welcome to Best of Android 2018

As 2018 winds down, we wanted to take stock of all the amazing smartphones released in the past 12 months by honoring the best of the bunch in our annual Best of Android series. Over the next two weeks, we’ll be releasing articles discussing our winners in detail. For our awards this year, we used a completely new structure to find the best of the best. We wanted to hand out awards to devices that truly earned it with observable advantages. That couldn’t just come from test results and rankings — we needed to get hands on. We redesigned our Best of Android awards process to achieve this from the ground up, applying our math skills to reward good phones, and minimizing outlier measurements that could throw things off. We also brought in the ultimate authority on Android phones: you. The test bench becomes a leading lab Though it’s a little less visible this time around, our testing is now far more serious. We drew help from our friends in the industry to ramp this up, including display experts SpectraCal, digital imaging pros Imatest, the brains behind Geekbench (Primate Labs), and our colleagues at SoundGuys to run each phone through a super-deep performance gantlet. We’ve moved from a test bench to a lab that can even detect fraudulent benchmark performance you won’t get in the real world. This year's crop of devices is exciting in ways that only the Android ecosystem can be. We nearly tripled our candidates from last year, with a full 30 being tested. We had actually hoped to test more, but some models simply weren’t available. Others were disqualified if their replacements were released, or if they’re at the end of their retail lives. Best of Android 2018: The candidates Asus ROG Phone Google Pixel 3 Google Pixel 3 XL Honor 8X Honor Play HTC U12+ Huawei Mate 20 Huawei Mate 20 Pro Huawei P20 Huawei P20 Pro LG G7 ThinQ LG V40 ThinQ Motorola Moto Z3 Nokia 7.1 Nokia 8 Sirocco OnePlus 6T Oppo R17 Pro Razer Phone 2 RED Hydrogen One Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Samsung Galaxy S9 Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus Sony Xperia XZ3 Vivo Nex Vivo V11 Pro Vivo X21 Xiaomi Black Shark Xiaomi Mi 8 Xiaomi Mi A2 Xiaomi Pocophone F1 If your eyes glazed over a bit, don’t worry: many of those phones are designed for a certain niche. Each awards article will only deal with the handsets that truly excel in each category, which typically is about 5-7 models. If a phone was released and we couldn’t get it in for testing, it was entered into our Reader’s Choice bracket to do combat on equal footing. A graphic showing the bracket competition for Android Authority's Reader's Choice award.24 phones enter, one remains after a month of head-to-head competition. These are the award categories we considered: Best smartphone of 2018 Best smartphone innovation of 2018 Best display 2018 Best audio 2018 Best performance 2018 Best battery 2018 Best camera 2018 Reader’s choice 2018 (will be determined Nov. 27) Best gaming smartphone 2018 Best value phones 2018 We sincerely hope you enjoy our Best of Android content, and would love to hear back from you to figure out what we can improve next year. We didn’t have time to discuss every data point, but we left no stone unturned in our quest to provide you with the information you need. All that we do is for our readers, and we hope to help you make the best decisions on your smartphone journey.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro hands-on: Progressive iteration

November 2018 - Bertemu lagi dengan saya Admin Droid Shot, Kali ini saya menulis artikel dengan judul November 2018, semoga saja isi postingan mengenai bermanfaat buat sahabat Droid Shot.

Judul : Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro hands-on: Progressive iteration
link : Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro hands-on: Progressive iteration

Redmi Note 6 ProXiaomi has been the number one smartphone brand in India, the company’s biggest market outside of China, since over a year now and much of its success and positive mindshare has been piggybacking on its bestselling Note series. Ten months ago, Xiaomi launched the upgraded Redmi Note 5 but also introduced Redmi Note 5 Pro with better internals and camera to appeal to the power users on a budget. And just before 2018 ends, we already have the Redmi Note 6 Pro launching in India on November 22. I spent some time with the device this week, and here are my initial impressions of the same. Iterative update to the Redmi Note 5 Pro Redmi Note 6 ProThe design of the Redmi Note 6 Pro has Xiaomi written all over it (not literally!). It looks fine and is functional, but uninspiring. There are subtle changes, especially with the arc design at the back, that improve the ergonomics of the device but competitors like Honor and HMD Global have consistently upped the game in aesthetics and one wishes Xiaomi would break the mould soon. The display gets an upgrade though from 18:9 aspect ratio to a 19:9 aspect ratio which makes for a larger 6.26-inch Full HD+ display in similar form factor. The front of the device has minimal bezels and looks similar to some flagship devices out there. The display is quite bright, and the color accuracy is first-rate – it is clearly one of the best displays in any smartphone in this range. The Redmi Note 5 Pro was made for those who need a little extra on the spec sheet and marked the global debut of the Snapdragon 636 processor at the time — Qualcomm’s latest 600-series chipset. It also featured the newest Kryo technology, which is typically only seen in 800-series chips. The Redmi Note 6 Pro packs in the same internals and comes in two memory variants – 4 GB + 64 GB and 6 GB + 64 GB.  Redmi Note 6 Pro Operating SystemAndroid 8.1 Oreo MIUI 10 Display6.26-inch Full HD+ (2280 x 1080) display 19:9 aspect ratio 500-nit maximum brightness 2.5D curved glass Corning Gorilla Glass ProcessorQualcomm Snapdragon 636 (1.8GHz max) Kryo 260 CPU Adreno 509 GPU RAM4/6 GB LPDDR4X Storage64 GB Expandable storage up to 256GB Rear Camera12MP + 5MP dual camera 1.4μm pixel size f/1.9 aperture Single tone dual-LED flash Front Camera20MP + 2MP dual camera AI face unlock Battery4,000 mAh 5V/2A charging Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 Dimensions157.91mm x 76.38mm x 8.26mm Weight182g ColorsBlack, Rose Gold, Blue, Red Four cameras The Redmi Note 5 Pro was the first Redmi phone to pack in dual cameras earlier this year and now Redmi Note 6 Pro is the first Xiaomi smartphone to sport dual cameras both on the front and back. The Note series has usually been marred by average cameras, but the Redmi Note 5 Pro changed that going on to arguably become one of the best shooters in budget and mid-range segment. It’s been further improved this time around with a combination of 12MP sensor with f/1.9 aperture and a large 1.4 μm pixel size and a 5MP sensor used for the depth-of-field effect while shooting portraits. There are also AI smarts like scene detection and adjustable bokeh with interesting features like studio lighting et al. Most of these have been executed quite well. On the front there’s a 20MP primary sensor with a 2MP secondary depth sensor that works quite well for those portrait selfies. There’s also support for AI face unlock. MIUI 10 Redmi Note 6 ProThe Redmi Note 6 Pro is the company’s first smartphone to ship with MIUI 10, the latest iteration of the company’s proprietary UI layer, out of the box. But MIUI 10 is based on Android 8.1 Oreo, and it is disappointing for a smartphone launching in the last quarter of 2018 with neither Android Pie out of the box nor a definite timeline for the upgrade. Not very ‘Pro’! That said, MIUI is one of the more popular Android customizations, and although it’s a tad bloated, it packs in a lot of features and has its share of fans. Large 4000mAh battery The Redmi Note 6 Pro retains the 4000mAh battery that we saw on the last generation device but Xiaomi claims that due to the latest MIUI optimizations, the battery life has been further improved. The Redmi Note 5 Pro easily gave a day-and-a-half battery life and anything more than that will be terrific. We’ll put the claim to test in our in-depth review of course. However, it’s disappointing to find a micro-USB port instead of a USB Type-C port in a smartphone released in 2018, and one with a ‘Pro’ moniker at that. But at least it’ll work with the old chargers you have lying around the house. Summary Redmi Note 6 ProXiaomi has carved out a comfortable space for itself in the crowded affordable smartphone market in India and is now playing too safe with an ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’ approach. The Redmi Note 6 Pro is only a progressive, and a tad underwhelming, update to the Redmi Note 5 Pro but if you’re looking for an affordable smartphone with a good set of cameras and powerful innards, the Redmi Note 6 Pro will be one of the top options on the table. We’ll know more about the pricing and availability when the device launches next week, and will bring you all the details along with a comprehensive review of Xiaomi’s latest mid-range smartphone.

Those who oppose the smartphone notch have a new adversary to deal with — the double-notch of the upcoming Sharp AQUOS R2 compact. That’s right, the phone will feature a small notch on the top for its front-facing camera and a larger notch on the bottom of the display for what appears to be a fingerprint sensor. The product demo video shows that the fingerprint sensor also doubles as a trackpad which will allow users to scroll through content without smudging up their display with their greasy fingers, something that we have not seen on Android phones in quite some time. While we have to give Sharp some credit for creativity, we’re not sure why Sharp thinks that a double-notch is the way to go when in-display fingerprint sensors are now readily available. As for the specs of the Sharp AQUOS R2 compact, the device is expected to feature a 5.2-inch Full HD+ (2,280 x 1,080 pixels)  with Corning Gorilla Glass 3, a Snapdragon 845, 4GB of LPDDR4X RAM, 64GB of storage, microSD card slot,  22.6MP rear camera with LED Flash, f/1.9 aperture, OIS, 8MP front-facing camera, IP68 dust and water resistance, a front-facing fingerprint sensor (obviously), and a 2,500mAh battery with fast charging. Sharp is planning to sell the AQUOS R2 compact in Smoke Green, Deep White and Pure Black across Japan and a few other select markets starting in mid-January.  Source: Sharp

With all the Samsung Galaxy S10 rumors floating around these days, you might be wondering what other smartphone makers are planning for 2019. Rumors and speculation regarding HTC’s next device have started spreading with quite a few HTC fans hoping the next HTC device will feature a full-screen display (we hope they skip the notch) the next stage of HTC’s “buttonless” design language that we saw on the U12+,  VR/AR integration to complement the HTC Vive and of course the inclusion of Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8150. What we know about HTC’s 2019 plans Rumors are thin at the moment with HTC keeping their cards close to their chest, but a source familiar with the matter has informed us the HTC may not release the HTC U13 in the spring. Instead, we should expect to see a  mid-flagship device. While we do not have any additional details at this time, our sources did hint at “something else” from HTC later in the year.  There’s no indication as to what this “something else” actually is, but HTC has the chance here to completely re-group and start with a fresh plan moving forward in mobile. Our take on this new information Rather than continuing to compete with “the big boy,” HTC may change its focus to concentrate on the core network of fans and die-hard users. What we’re actually going to see in 2019 is anybody’s guess, but with recent industry introductions of hidden cameras, in-screen fingerprint readers and button-less design (U12+), perhaps we should start preparing for something similar to the HTC Ocean that was accidentally teased nearly 2 years ago. One thing is clear, HTC needs to stop what it’s been doing and hit the reset button in 2019. A few things you might not know if you are new to the HTC conversation. Long before HTC decided to go it alone, it manufactured devices for other companies, who then sold them under their own names. The list of early products it made includes the HP iPAQ Pocket PC and the Palm Treo 650. The HTC Wallaby, the first phone HTC ever made, was sold under many pseudonyms including – O2 XDA, T-Mobile MDA, Dopod 686, Siemens SX56, and Qtek 1010. HTC, until recently still made devices for other companies from time to time. These include Google’s Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel 2, and Nexus One. HTC was the first company to add a customized skin on top of Android. Called “Sense” it debuted in 2009 on the HTC Hero. Almost every manufacturer has followed HTC’s example since then. HTC reached its peak in the Q3 of 2011. According to reports, the company was the biggest smartphone maker in the U.S. with nearly 25% of the mobile phone market. Shipping around 5.7 million devices in the period, 800,000 more than Samsung in second place. Apple came in third with sales of 4.6 million units. [Poll] HTC in 2019 — Darren Millar (@darrenmillar) November 16, 2018 With less than 2 months to 2019 and less than 6 months until spring we can only imagine what is happening on the famous 16th floor of HTC’s HQ in Taiwan. Oh to be a fly on the pristine white marble walls. I’ll likely be attending MWC in Barcelona next year, I’ll meet up with my sources an see what’s coming, in the meantime, I’ll keep an ear to the ground. Here’s hoping HTC can turn it around in 2019 maybe they’ll even bring back some metal body variants.

Hands-on with Samsung One UI and Android Pie on the Galaxy S9

Samsung recently announced an all-new user interface for its phones. It’s called One UI, and it aims to simplify Samsung’s notoriously feature-packed software while also making everything more visually appealing. If you own a Galaxy S9 or S9 Plus and live in the U.S. or South Korea, you can try out the beta version of One UI right now — and I’d suggest you do so. One UI is a fantastic improvement over Samsung’s previous software, and makes everything much easier to use. What’s new in One UI? There are a ton of new features and visual improvements in One UI. The full list can be found here, but I’ll walk you through the most important ones. samsung galaxy s9 one ui review appssamsung galaxy s9 one ui review android piesamsung galaxy s9 one ui review home screen display RelatedAndroid 9 Pie update tracker: What we know so far (Updated November 13) The next major version of Android, Android 9.0 Pie, has already made its way to the Google Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel 2, and Pixel 2 XL. Google announced this official Android 9.0 update on August … The whole user interface has received a really clean visual makeover. Since this build of One UI is based on Android 9 Pie, you can expect to see even more white settings menus with bright blue accents. Samsung’s system app icons are all new too, as are the buttons in the quick settings panel. About the only thing on the home screen that Samsung didn’t touch is the app drawer, which confusingly still requires you to swipe horizontally instead of vertically. Samsung is trying to reimagine how software is designed in relation to how big our phones are. Instead of including touch targets at the top of an app, Samsung is now reserving that space for visual-only elements. The bottom half of each app is for interactive elements. Take the quick settings panel for example: Once you swipe down twice to reveal all the quick settings, the top half of the screen shows the time and date while the bottom portion shows your quick settings. This not only makes it easier to reach things with one hand, it also makes each app look much cleaner. samsung galaxy s9 one ui review bixbysamsung galaxy s9 one ui review messagessamsung galaxy s9 one ui review phone dialer We’ve complained (okay, I’ve complained) about Samsung’s confusing settings menu layout in previous builds, but the company is making that better too. You’ll find some of the toggles have been moved to different areas in the settings menu that make more sense. Also, related settings are now grouped together into subheadings. For instance, the apps and notifications sections are now bundled together, while lock screen and biometrics/security are grouped together. Most of you are going to love this next feature. Samsung added a system-wide dark mode to One UI, and it’s just as awesome as it sounds. Turning on night mode gives every system app — messages, quick settings, regular settings, and even Bixby — a dark theme. It’s true-black too (not that mostly grey tone Google uses on its Pixel phones), so you’ll be able to save some precious battery life thanks to the S9’s AMOLED screen. Samsung claims you can set it to automatically turn on/off with the sunrise/sunset, but I think that option is missing from the settings menu in this build. Samsung has changed the look of its navigation buttons too. The home button is more rounded, and the app switcher has been changed to three vertical lines. If you don’t want to use traditional navigation buttons, Samsung also included a gesture navigation option in this build. These are Samsung’s own gestures, not the gestures many of us our used to on the Pixel. Basically, the new gestures remove the navigation buttons and replace each one with a swipe up from the bottom of the screen. If you need to go back, swipe up from the left side (under where the back button would normally show up). The same goes for the home button and recent apps. I think the idea behind it is good — the attempt at simplicity shouldn’t be understated — but I don’t think it works well in practice. Maybe I just haven’t given myself time to get used it. Finally, the recent apps menu has been overhauled. It now scrolls horizontally like most other Android Pie builds, and it’s quite fast. You also get a search bar at the top if you want to quickly type out the app you’re looking for. A few other tidbits to mention about One UI: The always-on display now has a “tap to show” option if you don’t want it running at all times. New clock styles have been added to the always-on display. Always-on display now also features charging information. There’s a new scene optimizer in the camera app that’s supposed to automatically recognize things like food, landscapes, and people. The stock Samsung keyboard now has a floating keyboard option. It will also change color depending on the color of the surrounding app. Bixby Home also received a visual overhaul, but it’s still the same, finicky Bixby we’ve all grown to ignore. HEIF images are now supported. Remember, this is a beta For as much of an upgrade as this is, you’re still signing up for a beta. That means apps might not work, random force closes might happen, and you’ll probably experience a good amount of jank in certain parts of the OS. I haven’t had any major problems or app crashes, but I have noticed a few things. As mentioned, Samsung says you can set night mode to a specific time or based on the sunrise/sunset, but that option is missing for me. My Galaxy S9 also likes to disable night mode at random times, even though I have it set to stay on at all times. It’s a small thing, but I’ve also noticed some spacing issues in the app drawer. How to install One UI on the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus You can find all the instructions on how to join the One UI beta program right here. I do want to clarify a few things, though: U.S. users need to join the program via the Samsung+ app, while everyone else needs to join in the Samsung Members app. If you don’t see a prompt to download the One UI beta on the Samsung+ home screen, you may need to update your app. I saw the prompt after updating Samsung+ to the latest beta. You can download that here. I’ve heard some users have been having trouble receiving the OTA update after joining the One UI beta. If you’re struggling with that, pop in a SIM card and the download should be available. I’m really impressed with One UI even though I was skeptical at first. The changes Samsung made to its apps, coupled with the new visual style, make this a fun Android skin to use. I didn’t think I’d ever say that about Samsung’s software, but here we are. Good job, Sammy. Have you given One UI a shot? What do you think so far?
